The Verdict

THE SHORT READ…

High quality goggles that allow you to swap lens on the move, and nice to choose your own lens and strap combo.

THE LONG READ …

Been rocking the Aphex XPR for a year now, and the two lenses I have are both in top condition and the foam on the frame is showing no sign of deterioration, although slight caveat, I prefer to wear sunglasses when I can.

It’s easy to think the Aphex concept is a bit of a gimmick and you won’t be getting a top set of goggles, but you’d be wrong, the frames fit snugly and the field of vision is great.

The magnetic lens attachment is super solid, yet easy enough to allow you to simply swap between whatever lens you feel fits the conditions. I have a low light Photo Chromatic Revo blue lens, as I like goggles when the weather sucks in and the visibility drops. I’ve always had a yellow lens for bad light before but the Aphex Photo Chromatic works just as well, lifting the flat slope into a more contoured mountainside.

I also have Revo Blue lens, which comes in a great protective case, for when the sun comes out and the powder’s too deep for sunglasses to work well.

Your style, if it’s important to you, is simply created by choosing your lens and one of the many straps on offer. The stap is solid, wide and sticks nice and easy to your helmet. There’s a small plastic clip which easily slides into the frame, although I did find that on a couple of occasions they became unclipped when in my bag, but this wasn’t a persistent issue and never happened when I was wearing them, guess they must of been pressurised somehow in my backpack.

SUMMARY…

Surprisingly good and should be taken seriously, especially if you’d like to switch lenses of your choice, while rockin’ the strap of choice. I went with Forest.
